Datasets for Primary and Sensitivity Analyses: Primary and Sensitivity Analysis Datasets from an RCT on Book-based and Internet-based CBT for Gaze Anxiety.

The dataset comprised 244 Japanese university students with gaze anxiety. This dataset contains participant characteristics and outcome measures collected from a randomized controlled trial conducted in 2025. Participants were assigned to one of two intervention groups—engaging in self-help cognitive behavioral therapy based on the Clark and Wells model via either a book (bCBT) or a website (iCBT) for one month (five weeks)—or to a waitlist control group. Outcomes were the Gaze Anxiety Rating Scale, the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Rating Scale, the Social Phobia Inventory, the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7. Outcomes were collected via web-based forms at post-intervention (one month), as well as at 3-month and 6-month follow-ups. In the dataset, the 'allocation' column indicates the group assignment: 1 for control, 2 for bCBT, and 3 for iCBT. The prefixes for each scale—specifically 'pre', 'post', 'three', and 'six'—represent the measurement time points (e.g., 'preGARS' denotes the total GARS score at baseline, 'postLSAS' at post-intervention, 'threeSPIN' at the 3-month follow-up, and 'sixPHQ' at the 6-month follow-up). In the 'sex' column, 1 represents female and 2 represents male; please note that these labels refer to biological sex only.
