MEDW 2013-2014 Bavaria Panel Study

This dataset was produced within the framework of the Making Electoral Democracy Work project. It contains panel survey data from the 2013 State, 2013 Federal and 2014 European elections in Bavaria. The panel was conducted in 5 waves. Wawe 1 preceded the 2013 state election, Wave 2 was fielded between the 2013 state election and the 2013 federal election, and Wave 3 followed the 2013 federal election. Waves 4 and 5 were organized before and after the 2014 European election respectively. Making Electoral Democracy Work (MEDW) is an international collaborative project that was conducted between 2009 and 2017 by a large team of political scientists, economists, and psychologists from Canada, Europe, and the United States. Its goal was to examine how the rules of the game (especially the electoral system) and the electoral context (especially the competitiveness and salience of the election) influence the dynamic and reciprocal relationship between voters and parties. To do so, the project gathered data for different types of elections held in Canada, France, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland between 2010 and 2016. In each country, two subnational units, typically regions, were studied. The analyses were complemented by laboratory and online experiments, as well as data on the parties’ campaigns. 选举民主有效运行（MEDW）是一项国际性合作研究项目，于2009年至2017年间由来自加拿大、欧洲多国及美国的政治学家、经济学家与心理学家组成的大型研究团队实施完成。该项目的研究目标为探究选举规则（尤其是选举制度）与选举语境（尤其是选举的竞争性与凸显性）如何作用于选民与政党之间的动态双向互动关系。

为达成该研究目标，项目组收集了2010年至2016年间加拿大、法国、德国、西班牙与瑞士境内各类选举的相关数据；每个研究国家均选取两个次国家行政单元（通常为地区）作为研究样本。本项目的分析研究辅以实验室实验、线上实验及政党竞选活动相关数据作为支撑。
