Survey data on the Effect of Macro-economic Factors on Business Sustainability in the Leather Industry Cluster of Kanpur and Unnao, Uttar Pradesh , India

Macro-economic factors are known to significantly affect the business performance. Kanpur and Unnao, situated on the river Ganges have evolved as the leather industry hub of North India. Leather Industry is known to pollute surface and groundwater resources and chromium pollution is known to take its toll on the workers in the leather processing and tanning. Pollutants and waste water invariably finds its way to the River Ganges. Recent environmental consciousness and changes in ethical consumption of leather goods have motivated the researchers to investigate the effects of macro-economic factors on the business sustainability of the leather industry. 500 industry workers, manufacturers, raw hide suppliers, marketers and exporters were presented with a questionnaire comprising nine demographic and 42 items, six each the seven constructs used in the study. The data was collected in a face to face setting where the potential respondents were explained the purpose of the study and their consent was taken before collecting the data. No personally identifiable information was collected and participation was voluntary. The final data of 397 comprised mostly of males (93.2%). 7 point Likert type questions were framed to elicit responses on the seven constructs namely, Government Policies & Regulations, Environmental Regulations, Economic Conditions, Technological Advancements, Socio-Cultural Factors, Global Market Trends and Business Sustainability.
The preliminary data was analysed using SPSS 23 and the hypotheses were analysed using path analysis by structural equation modelling (SmartPLS 4.0). Bootstrapping was done (10000 iterations) and the bootstrapped histograms of the path coefficients satisfactorily followed normal distribution.

宏观经济因素对企业经营绩效具有显著影响，此为学界普遍认知。坐落于恒河沿岸的坎普尔（Kanpur）与乌纳奥（Unnao），已发展为北印度皮革产业核心枢纽。皮革产业的生产过程会对地表与地下水资源造成污染，其中铬污染会对皮革加工与鞣制环节的从业人员健康造成严重损害。生产所产生的污染物与废水最终均会流入恒河。
近年来，公众环保意识逐步觉醒，加之皮革制品的道德消费模式发生转变，这促使研究者们着手探究宏观经济因素对皮革产业商业可持续性的影响。本次研究共向500名产业工人、制造商、生皮供应商、营销人员及出口商发放问卷，问卷包含9道人口统计学问题与42道测题，对应研究设定的7个构念，每个构念下设6道测题。
数据采用面对面访谈方式采集，研究人员会向潜在受访者说明研究目的，并在获取其知情同意后再开展数据采集工作。本研究未收集任何可识别个人身份的信息，且所有参与者均为自愿参与。最终有效样本量为397份，其中男性占比93.2%。
研究采用7点李克特式问题，用于采集7个构念的相关数据，具体构念包括：政府政策与规制、环境规制、经济状况、技术进步、社会文化因素、全球市场趋势，以及商业可持续性。
初步数据分析采用SPSS 23完成，研究假设则通过结构方程模型的路径分析（采用SmartPLS 4.0）进行检验。本次研究采用Bootstrap法（10000次迭代）开展检验，路径系数的Bootstrap直方图符合正态分布要求。
本数据集附带.xlsx与.sav格式的数据文件，同时还包含问卷、知情同意书以及PLS模型的输出结果。
