Orchid occurrence records from the Bird's Head Peninsula, West Papua (2016–2024)

This dataset comprises 1,082 orchid occurrence records collected during 28 field expeditions conducted between 2016 and 2024 across the Bird’s Head Peninsula and surrounding islands, West Papua, Indonesia. Records represent more than 290 species from about 82 genera and are based on in situ observation, photographic documentation, and voucher-based verification. To reduce risks associated with illegal collection and trade, precise geographic coordinates for threatened, newly discovered, and potentially undescribed orchid taxa have been withheld or spatially generalised in the publicly released dataset. Exact collection dates have also been removed; year and month are retained to preserve temporal context. The dataset supports biodiversity research, orchid conservation planning, and field-based assessments in one of the plant diversity dark-spot regions of New Guinea. Species identifications were supported by expert input from multiple orchid taxonomists; individual determinations are indicated in the IDENTIFIED_BY field.本数据集收录1082条兰花出现记录，相关数据采集自2016至2024年间在印度尼西亚西巴布亚省鸟头半岛及其周边岛屿开展的28次野外考察。本次收录的记录涵盖约82个属、290余种兰花，所有数据均基于原位观测、影像存档以及凭证标本验证形成。 为降低非法采集与贸易带来的风险，公开发布的数据集中，受威胁类群、新发现类群及潜在未描述兰花类群的精确地理坐标已被隐去，并进行空间泛化处理；同时移除了精确采集日期，但保留年份与月份以留存时间维度信息。 该数据集可支撑新几内亚植物多样性盲区区域内的生物多样性研究、兰花保护规划以及野外实地评估工作。 物种鉴定得到多位兰花分类学家的专业支持，个体鉴定结果将在IDENTIFIED_BY字段中标注。
