Earthworm assemblages and environmental data at sites in the eastern and midwestern United States

We used a standard sampling protocol at 94 sites (98 site-seasons) across 13 states to better understand the factors affecting diversity and abundance of earthworms in the eastern and central United States. The numerical abundance and dry-weight biomass (estimated from length) are provided for each earthworm species and for all earthworms combined. Environmental data were collected directly (e.g., pH, habitat type) or indirectly from public data (e.g., soil drainage class, distance to the nearest water).These data were used in the following publication, which is in press at the journal Biological Invasions: McCay, T.S., LJ Anderson, CP Bloch, AE Cahill, SL Cooke, BJ Dolan, KM Flinn, D Garneau, NJ Hains, K Hopfensperger, MB Kolozvary, C Mankiewicz, SE Scanga, JL Schafer, E Schwartzberg, DA Scott, KL Shea, J Simmons, and JN Styrsky.
