Magnetic excitations and 4f anisotropy in SmCo permanent magnets studied with RIXS

SmCo magnets are ubiquitous in applications requiring permanent magnets due to their outstanding magnetic performance. Despite their technological importance and continuous development in terms of material engineering, there are still many fundamental aspects which are not fully explored. Most importantly, there are still no experimental studies of the collective magnetic excitations in these materials. Here we propose to explore for the first time the dispersion relation of the Co magnons in SmCo5 and Sm2Co17 thin films and their interaction with local Sm 4f levels using high-resolution RIXS.
钐钴(SmCo)磁铁凭借其优异的磁性能,在各类需要永磁体的应用场景中无处不在。尽管其具备重要的技术价值且在材料工程领域持续发展,但仍有诸多基础层面尚未得到充分探索。尤为关键的是,目前尚无针对这类材料集体磁激发的实验研究。本研究首次提出利用高分辨共振非弹性X射线散射(high-resolution RIXS),探究SmCo5与Sm2Co17薄膜中钴磁振子的色散关系,及其与局域钐4f能级的相互作用。
