This transcriptomics experiment was designed to help understand how gene expression patterns of structural enzymes and their transcriptional regulators affect secondary metabolism and metabolite profiles in different blueberry species. Breeding cultivars with improved flavonoid content or composition could improve their value fresh fruit market and also contribute to the development of new processed blueberry products.Berries were derived from cultivated collections of tetraploid Vaccinium corymbosum (Northern Highbush) ‘Nui’ and hexaploid V. virgatum (Rabbiteye) ‘Velluto Blue’. Fruit was harvested at five different developmental stages.
