This dataset supports the article: Tran Van Duong (2025). Spatial Conceptualization in Vietnamese: A Contrastive Analysis of ‘Ra’ and ‘Vào’ and Their English Equivalents. <i>Cognitive Semantics</i>. DOI: https://doi.org/10.1163/23526416-bja10086<br>------------------<br>This dataset is a bilingual parallel corpus focusing on the Vietnamese directional markers <b>“ra”</b> (roughly ‘out/outwards’) and <b>“vào”</b> (roughly ‘in/inwards’). It compiles <b>630 instances</b> of these markers as they appear in contemporary Vietnamese fiction, together with their corresponding English translations: <b>275 occurrences of “ra”</b> and <b>355 occurrences of “vào.”</b>The dataset was created to facilitate a contrastive analysis of spatial conceptualization in Vietnamese and English.
