Lignin enrichment of Sea Water samples from Menai Strait (North Wales, UK)

Sea water samples were collected at Menai Bridge (UK) from the Menai Strait waters. Two separated enrichment with lignin have been performed, one using the algal surface wash-off from the sea water and another with the remaining sea water. DNA was extracted from the enrichment samples takes after 92 days of incubation, used for the prospection of potential esterases involved on lignin degradation.

本研究于英国梅奈桥（Menai Bridge）的梅奈海峡（Menai Strait）海域采集海水样本。先后开展了两次以木质素（lignin）为底物的独立富集培养实验：一组以海水中藻类表面洗脱物为接种源，另一组以剩余海水作为接种源。在92天的培养周期结束后，从各富集培养样本中提取DNA，用于筛选参与木质素降解的潜在酯酶（esterases）。
