NRS-16348 | Contracts Bonds and Agreements

This series consists of original legal instruments signed by the Commissioners and other parties. These relate to commercial transactions, and undertakings between the Railway Commissioners and various contractors and suppliers to enable them to perform railway services and other agreements of a civil nature entered into by the Commissioners and individuals. The former category includes contracts and agreements for the supply of equipment, parts, services, and consumables; leases of railway property for various purposes including for the provision of railway refreshment rooms and book stalls at railway stations and advertising spaces; contracts for the construction of railway buildings, railway and tramway lines. Specifications, illustrations, detailed costings and correspondence often form part of this documentation. The second category includes agreements for compensation for accidents or damage to property, agreements to waive or release from liability, sureties, and employment agreements The documents are handwritten or on appropriate printed forms depending upon the nature and complexity of the transaction, in some cases waxed seals are attached. Custody History From 1955 until 2000 the State Rail Authority of New South Wales maintained an ‘in house archives’ consisting of the archival records of the Authority, its predecessor agencies and the private railway companies taken over by the government. The date ranges of the records were from 1849 until 2000. When the decision was made to close the ‘State Rail Archives’ the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records series system of archives control and were re-numbered.This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection where it was identified as series R161 and R169. It may have been viewed in the State Rail Archives as series R161 and R169 and could have been previously cited as such in notes by researchers at State Rail Archives or in publications or unpublished works.

保管历史：1955年至2000年期间，新南威尔士州铁路管理局设有“内部档案馆”，收藏该局、其前身机构及被政府接管的私营铁路公司的档案记录，时间跨度为1849年至2000年。在决定关闭“州铁路档案馆”时，需作为州档案馆藏的部分被移交至新南威尔士州州立档案管理局，并被纳入该局的档案系列管理系统重新编号。本系列原属州铁路档案馆藏，编号为R161和R169系列，研究人员曾在州铁路档案馆查阅该系列，并可能在其笔记、出版物或未发表作品中引用过这些编号。
