VPRS 14589 Correspondence Register

This series consists of the register of inwards correspondence to the City of Moorabbin (VA 656), and may be used to establish whether particular items of correspondence were received. The register recorded the registration number, date received, name and address of sender, the subject, how the correspondence was disposed of, and whether it was filed (NB: this section was not always completed).Correspondence registers were maintained as part of a recordkeeping system to manage council correspondence. As each letter was received by the Council, it was registered using the next available registration number in the register.Information about each item of correspondence was recorded in the Register. This included such details as the date of receipt of letter, from whom the letter was sent, a summary of the subject of the letter and how the letter was filed (the subject or classification).
