Bryde's whale calls observed using JC114 OBS deployment in the Panama basin (Jan.-Feb. 2015)
In file "matfiles.zip" are individual Matlab files for each whale call that was detected, picked and located in Tary et al., 2024.
Each file include:
- dath: cell array of time series of all OBSs working at the moment the call was recorded
- hdr: header corresponding to the data in dath, including the sampling rate (st) for each instrument, the data starting time (tbeg) for each instrument, the list of instrument names (sta, NG: OBSs from North Grid, VA: Vertical Array of hydrophones in North Grid), the list of instruments with P-wave picks (stap), times of P-wave picks (ppicks), weights for each P-wave pick (weightsp), and picking uncertainties for each P-wave pick (punc).
The Matlab function: seeVAevents.m, can be used to visualise the Matlab files with whale calls.
Additional files:
- NonLinLoc_locations.txt: whale call locations obtained using NonLinLoc (see Tary et al., 2024). Columns are as follows: YYMMDD / HHMM / SS.SS / Latitude (DMS) / Longitude (DMS) / Depth (km) / RMS (s) / Horizontal error (km) / Vertical error (km)
- hypoDD_relocations.txt: whale call locations obtained using NonLinLoc followed by hypoDD (see Tary et al., 2024). Columns are as follows: Event ID / latitude / longitude / depth (km) / YYYY / MM / DD / HH / MM / SS.SSS
- instrument_positions: positions of the OBSs and the hydrophones of the vertical array. Columns are as follows: instrument names / latitude / longitude / depth below sea surface (km)
- whale_call_labels.xlsx: Matlab file names corresponding to whale track numbers described in Tary et al., 2025. Whale track number 0 corresponds to no labels assigned.
- jc114_whale_calls: xml files including meta-data for the submitted dataset (in the style of ezEML files from edirepository.org)

压缩包`matfiles.zip`中包含了Tary等人2024年研究中检测、拾取并定位的每一例鲸类鸣叫声对应的独立Matlab数据文件。每个文件包含以下内容:
- `dath`:记录该鸣叫声时刻所有正常工作的海底地震仪的时间序列元胞数组

- `whale_call_labels.xlsx`:对应Tary等人2025年研究中描述的鲸类追踪编号的Matlab文件名。鲸类追踪编号0代表未分配标签
- `jc114_whale_calls`:包含提交数据集元数据的XML文件(格式遵循edirepository.org的ezEML文件规范)
