THE CONCEPT OF UNITS WITH PRIVATE COMBINABILITY IN LINGUISTIC TERMINOLOGY AND THEIR PLACE

This article comprehensively examines the concept of units with private (restricted) combinability in linguistic terminology, their semantic-structural features, and their place in the metalanguage of linguistics. Units with private combinability are interpreted as terminological formations that occupy an intermediate position between free word combinations and fully idiomatic phraseological units: their lexical choice is restricted, yet motivation is preserved. The formation of such units, their valency properties, their role in systemic organization, and their significance for ensuring the precision of linguistic science are analyzed theoretically and empirically. Each theoretical proposition is supported by footnotes citing the relevant scholarly sources. The article aims to contribute to the fields of Uzbek and general linguistic terminology, phraseology, and metalinguistics.
