Genome assembly of the silver-lipped pearl oyster, Pinctada maxima, 2024

The silver-lipped pearl oyster Pinctada maxima is an economically significant mollusc species, producing high-value silver pearls. However, the limited availability of genomic resources, with only one Pinctada genome previously available, has constrained comparative genomic studies. Here, we present a high-quality chromosome-level genome assembly of Pinctada maxima, generated using a combination of PacBio long reads, Illumina short reads, and high-resolution chromosome conformation capture (Hi-C) sequencing. The final assembly spans 1.27 Gb, anchored into 14 chromosomes, with a scaffold N50 of 209.20 Mb. This chromosome-level genome assembly provides an essential resource for further studies on the ecology, evolution, and comparative genomics of Pinctada species, as well as applications in animal health and aquaculture production.
银唇珍珠贝(Pinctada maxima)是一种具有重要经济价值的软体动物,可产出高价值的银色珍珠。然而此前仅公开1种珍珠贝属(Pinctada)基因组数据,基因组资源的匮乏限制了该类群的比较基因组学研究。本研究结合PacBio长读长测序、Illumina短读长测序与高分辨率染色体构象捕获(Hi-C)测序技术,构建了银唇珍珠贝的高质量染色体水平基因组组装。最终组装序列总长1.27 Gb,锚定至14条染色体,支架N50达到209.20 Mb。该染色体水平基因组组装可为珍珠贝属物种的生态学、进化生物学及比较基因组学研究提供关键资源,同时也可为动物健康与水产养殖生产相关应用提供支撑。
