Pacbio HiFi and HiC sequencing was performed to generate a scaffolded genome assembly for the Bellinger river snapping turtle. Additionally, mRNA sequencing was carried out on brain, liver and spleen tissue to assist with genome annotation. GCA_040894355.2 is a manually curated update of GCA_040894355.1, with structural errors fixed and chromosomes named. The assembly was generated by the Australian Threatened Species Initiative and coordinated by Carolyn Hogg of the University of Sydney. Manual curation was conducted at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, and QC and submission coordinated by the Vertebrate Genome Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, for the Vertebrate Genomes Project.
