human adenovirus 18 and adeno-associated virus 2 detected in an immunocompromised individual

Patients undergo allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) often experience a significant reduction in immune function, and thus are more vulnerable to experiencing a more severe infection. In this study, we reported a complete human adenovirus 18 (AdV18) and adeno-associated virus 2 (AAV2) from a patient with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The AdV18 and AAV2 reported in our study showed 99.3% and 97.3% nucleotide identities with the previously reported ones, respectively. We documented the concurrent presence of non-replicative AAV2 along with its potential helper viruses AdV18 in fecal specimen from the patient following HSTC. Furthermore, we successfully obtained a full-length sequence for AdV18 - marking only the second complete genome sequence within the resources.

异体造血干细胞移植（allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation，HSCT）受者常出现免疫功能显著下降，因此更易罹患重症感染。本研究从1例造血干细胞移植术后患者的样本中，获得了完整的人腺病毒18型（human adenovirus 18，AdV18）与腺相关病毒2型（adeno-associated virus 2，AAV2）。本研究报道的AdV18与AAV2，其核苷酸序列与已报道的对应毒株分别具有99.3%与97.3%的同源性。我们在该患者造血干细胞移植术后的粪便标本中，同时检出了非复制型AAV2及其潜在辅助病毒AdV18。此外，我们成功获取了AdV18的全长基因组序列，这是现有公共资源中仅有的第二株完整AdV18基因组序列。
