We are using microbiological and molecular techniques to identify sources of fecal bacteria in the surface waters of the Milwaukee River Basin. The purpose of these studies is to provide a more detailed assessment of water quality so efforts to improve water quality can be directed to the major sources of pollution in our waterways. Results from these studies provide a more accurate picture of the extent of contamination in local surface waters and the sources of contamination. 本研究采用微生物学与分子生物学技术，对密尔沃基河流域（Milwaukee River Basin）地表水体中的粪便细菌污染源进行识别。本研究的核心目标为开展精细化水质评估，以此指导水质改善工作精准聚焦于河道内的主要污染源头。本研究成果可更为精准地刻画本地地表水体的污染范围与污染来源全貌。本数据集包含13个地理区域的未处理污水微生物组（microbiomes）样本。
