Helping Hands for the Richmond and Brunswick River Catchments

This project will address the threats to estuarine, coastal floodplain (freshwater) creeks and wetlands and the headwaters systems of the Richmond and Brunswick Rivers, across twelve prioritised sites. Threats to these areas include; weeds, erosion, reduced connectivity and habitat availability through clearing, litter/debris, poor water quality, buffering sensitive aquatic systems and building resilience to future change and impacts. These threats will be mitigated through a range of techniques such as; manual, biological and chemical weed control, strategic revegetation, vegetative filter strips, stream bank stabilisation, litter/debris removal, surveying and mapping.

本项目将针对里士满河（Richmond River）与不伦瑞克河（Brunswick River）流域的河口、滨海洪泛平原（淡水）溪流、湿地及源头系统，覆盖12个优先点位。这些区域面临的威胁包括：杂草滋生、水土流失、因土地清理导致的连通性下降与栖息地减少、垃圾/debris堆积、水质恶化，以及缓冲敏感水生系统功能缺失、应对未来变化与影响的韧性不足。针对上述威胁，项目将采用多种技术手段加以缓解，包括：人工、生物及化学除草措施、战略性植被恢复、植被过滤带设置、河岸稳定工程、垃圾/debris清理，以及调查与测绘工作。
