CAMELS-IND-Proj: Daily streamflow projections for 472 Peninsular Indian catchments under future climate scenarios

Data Description We introduce CAMELS-IND-Proj (Catchment Attributes and MEteorology for Large-sample Studies – India -Projected Streamflow), a dataset containing meteorological forcings and projected streamflow for the 472 Peninsular Indian catchments as specified in CAMELS-IND (Mangukiya et al., 2025). The projected streamflow (cumecs) at daily time scale is provided for the 13 CMIP6 GCMs (General Circulation Models) under the four SSP (Shared Socioeconomic Pathways) scenarios (SSP126, SSP245, SSP370 and SSP585), for the time period spanning from 2015 to 2100. The simulated streamflow values are also provided under the historical period for each GCM model. The forcing datasets comprising the meteorological variables such as precipitation (mm), maximum temperature (°C) and minimum temperature (°C) are also provided for the historical as well as the future period under each SSP scenario for each GCM model. This dataset aims to foster large-sample hydrological research in India, enabling the inclusion of Indian catchments within global hydrological studies. The zip file also contains a python script named as ‘filter_catchment_model_scenario.py’ which enables users to extract forcing and streamflow data. User can specify a custom list of GCM models, SSP scenarios, and gauge IDs, or select the ‘All’ option to extract all items of that category. For example, if the user needs to download the data for the models ACCESS-CM2 and INM-CM4-8 for the SSP scenarios SSP245 and SSP585 for all the 472 catchments then provide the inputs for selected models as [“ACCESS-CM2”, “INM-CM4-8”], selected scenarios as [“ssp245”, “ssp585”] and target gauge ids as “All”. -------------------------------------------### Contribute to CAMELS-IND-Proj------------------------------------------- If you are working with a data set covering Indian catchments and would like to contribute meteorological and projected streamflow data to CAMELS-IND-Proj, please get in touch.
