本次数据集采用sprint 103批次的遥控无人潜水器（Remotely Operated Vehicle，ROV），其搭载36毫米静态相机进行拍摄，使用柯达埃克塔克罗姆100（Kodak Ektachrome 100）胶卷，通过尼康超级CoolScan 4000ED扫描仪完成影像数字化，并采用JPEG（联合图像专家小组，Joint Photographic Experts Group）压缩格式存储。同一条海底样带区域同时以Betacam格式进行了录像采集。
