Snow Melt Transect ARCSS grid Barrow, Alaska 2010

A 200 meter snow melt transect was chosen within the Arctic System Science (ARCSS) grid in Barrow, Alaska. ARCSS grid coordinates are labelled A thru K and 1 thru 11 for each N-S and E-W row of markers respectively. Transect begins 2 meters west of ARCSS grid point D09 and extends south ending 2 meters west of ARCSS grid point F09. Depth measurements were taken at every 2 meters along the transect on the east side of the transect to avoid any disturbances. The Systems Ecology Lab (SEL) long depth probe was used (orange tape on the handle). Data have been corrected by subtracting 3cm from measurements made in the field to account for the missing tip of the probe. Location of the snow melt transect was chosen using ArcGis tools.

在阿拉斯加州巴罗（Barrow）的北极系统科学（Arctic System Science, ARCSS）网格范围内，选取了一条长200米的融雪样带。该ARCSS网格的坐标分别以A至K、1至11对南北向与东西向的标记行进行编号。该样带始于ARCSS网格点D09以西2米处，向南延伸，终止于ARCSS网格点F09以西2米处。为避免干扰，研究人员沿样带东侧每间隔2米开展一次雪深测量。本次测量使用了系统生态学实验室（Systems Ecology Lab, SEL）的长柄雪深探针（手柄处缠有橙色胶带）。由于探针尖端缺失，已通过将野外实测值减去3厘米的方式对数据进行了校正。融雪样带的选址工作通过ArcGIS工具完成。
