Temperature profiles from MBT casts from the HUMBOLDT from Ocean Weather Station C (OWS-C) in the North Atlantic Ocean from 13 March 1968 to 10 April 1969 (NODC Accession 6900328)

Bathythermograph data were collected from the HUMBOLDT within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station C (5245N 03530W) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard from 13 March 1969 to 10 April 1969. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html.

The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.

通用深温计输出（UBT）文件格式用于存储通过机械式深温计（Mechanical Bathythermograph, MBT）获取的温度-深度剖面数据。机械式深温计观测的最大深度约为285米，因此其数据仅适用于研究海洋上层的热结构。每条观测记录均包含航次信息、观测日期、位置与时间。数据记录由多组温度-深度数值对组成。该文件中的温度数据以每5米的固定深度间隔进行记录。
