Designing Adaptive User Interfaces for mHealth Applications for Chronic Disease Management

This research explores how mobile health (mHealth) apps can better support people managing chronic diseases like diabetes and heart conditions. Many current apps use a one-size-fits-all design, which doesn’t meet the changing needs of individuals over time. This study focuses on Adaptive User Interfaces (AUIs), which can adjust to users’ preferences, health conditions, and lifestyles. Using surveys, interviews, and real-world testing, the research identifies key design strategies to make these apps more accessible, engaging, and personalized. The result is a set of practical guidelines to help developers build smarter, more inclusive mHealth tools for long-term self-care.
