The rise of drug-resistant pathogens has become a critical global health concern, necessitating the search for alternative sources of antimicrobial agents. Conventional antibiotics are becoming increasingly ineffective, necessitating the search for novel sources of antimicrobial compounds. Termites and their associated termitarium have been identified as promising reservoirs of novel antimicrobial compounds due to their unique ecological interactions and evolutionary history. With a rich history of antimicrobial use dating back to ancient times, these remarkable organisms are now a focal point in our research from Western Ghats region to combat drug-resistant pathogens.
