“City and lake of Odeypur [Udaipur].” View of city and palace surrounded by lake. Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II as the fourth capital of the Mewar kingdom. It lies in a valley beside three artificial lakes. Lake Pichola, the largest, is pictured here. The massive palace complex was started around 1559, with construction lasting over 200 years.
