Oxygen ion transport at the nanoscale probed by x-ray absorption spectroscopy

Aim of this proposal is to study the electronic and magnetic states of Co and Pt at ionic-gated Pt/CoB/Ir/Pt/HfO2 multilayers and demonstrate an emergent domain wall nucleation and magneto-ionic transport observed via magneto-optic Kerr microscopy and magnetization experiments. To this purpose, we propose x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and x-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) at Co-L and Pt-M absorption edges to disentangle the electronic and magnetic states of the electric field gating effects. The obtained results on the modulation of interfacial oxygen will provide an understanding of cyclable magneto-ionic controlling of magnetism in the ‘ionotronics’.

本提案旨在研究离子栅控Pt/CoB/Ir/Pt/HfO2多层膜中Co与Pt的电子态及磁态,并展示通过磁光克尔显微镜与磁化实验观测到的新型畴壁成核现象与磁离子输运行为。为此,我们提议在Co-L边与Pt-M吸收边开展X射线吸收谱(XAS)与X射线磁圆二色谱(XMCD)测试,以厘清电场栅控效应对应的电子与磁态。本研究针对界面氧调控所获得的结果,将助力理解离子电子学(ionotronics)中可循环磁离子调控磁性的机制。
