The Geography of Litter - Typology Data

Society has a strong, complex and long-term relationship with waste materials and much can be learned about behaviour from examining it. The ability to deduct activities from litter is a testament to the significance of post-consumption analysis, facilitated by the ability for litter to maintain its identity long after it has been disposed of. This study focuses on littered items to identify which consumption activites contribute the most. Data within are an excel document which includes litter counts from 4 seperate counting sessions in four different cities, where items have been categorised into 34 separate typologies. The further tabs in the document group typology counts by source activity and integrates Litter Impact Scores generated in a seperate study. Also in the excel is a Metadata tab that includes detailed descriptions of contents. A shapefile (TypologySites) generated in QGIS is also attached that defines all data collection sectors and subsectors, where the value UniqueID allows a join with excel data.

人类与废弃物之间存在紧密、复杂且长期的互动关系，对废弃物开展研究可为解析人类行为模式提供丰富洞见。从遗弃废弃物中推断人类活动的能力，印证了消费后分析的重要价值——这一分析路径得以实现，核心依托于废弃物在被丢弃后仍可长期保留其原始属性的特性。本研究聚焦于遗弃废弃物，旨在识别占比最高的相关消费活动。本数据集包含一份Excel文档，其中收录了4座不同城市开展的4次独立计数作业所得的废弃物数量统计结果，所有统计对象均被归类为34种独立的分类类型。该文档的其余工作表按照消费活动来源，对各类废弃物的计数结果进行分组，并整合了另一项独立研究中生成的废弃物影响评分（Litter Impact Scores）。此外，该Excel文档还设有元数据工作表，其中对数据集的各项内容进行了详尽说明。本数据集还附带了一份在QGIS中生成的形状文件（TypologySites），该文件划定了所有数据采集的区域与子区域，其中的UniqueID字段可用于与Excel数据集进行关联匹配。
