This dataset pertains to a study on the passivation of heavy metals in pig manure compost through the inoculation of three Bacillus species: Bacillus subtilis (BS), Bacillus licheniformis (BL), and Bacillus megaterium (BM). The research hypothesis posits that different Bacillus species have significant effects on the passivation of specific heavy metals in pig manure compost. The total content and different fraction contents of heavy metals (Cu, Zn, Pb, Cr and Ni) were determined. Additionally, parameters such as temperature, pH, total organic carbon, humic substance, humic acid, and fulvic acid were measured. The succession of the microbial community and changes in heavy metal resistance genes in pig manure compost were analyzed. The data demonstrated that the B. subtilis inoculation most effectively passivated Cu and Zn. The inoculation of B. subtilis and B. licheniformis both demonstrated the greatest impact on Pb passivation. B. megaterium demonstrated optimal efficacy for Cr passivation, whereas B. licheniformis showed the greatest influence on Ni passivation. This dataset provides new insights into heavy metal passivation in pig manure composting.
