Sponges (Porifera) attract researchers' interest due to the ability to accumulate a wide variety of microorganisms, such as heterotrophic bacteria, cyanobacteria, microscopic algae, archaea, dinoflagellates, fungi, etc. within their body. For the first time, 454 pyrosequencing of 16S rRNA gene fragments was applied to the analysis of bacterial communities associated with freshwater sponges living in Lake Baikal, the most ancient and the deepest lake on the planet.
海绵(多孔动物门 (Porifera))因其能够在体内富集多种微生物,包括异养细菌、蓝细菌、微藻、古菌、甲藻、真菌等,而受到研究者的广泛关注。本研究首次采用454焦磷酸测序 (454 pyrosequencing) 技术对16S rRNA基因 (16S rRNA gene) 片段进行测序,以此分析栖息于地球上最古老且最深的淡水湖——贝加尔湖中的淡水海绵相关细菌群落。
