Discovery of a novel sub-lineage of multi-drug resistant Shigella flexneri in Southern California

A 60-year-old man with history of men who have sex with men presented after experiencing new episodes of diarrhea, about a months after the initial empirical treated with a 3-day course of azithromycin failed. Shigella was isolated from the stool, and was sequenced to guide treatment.
