The Tactical Edge of "Building from the Back" in Enhancing Performance in Elite Italian Football

This study compared the effectiveness of the "building from the back" strategy versus direct attack in elite Italian football, analyzing ball possession, goal-scoring opportunities, and match outcomes. Data from the 2022-2023 Serie A season classified teams by playing style: building from the back (short passes from the goalkeeper >55%) and direct attack. Statistical analyses showed that teams using the building-from-the-back approach earned more points (64.2 vs. 40.1), scored more goals (57.8 vs. 40.7), conceded fewer goals (42.3 vs. 55.9), and faced fewer shots. This strategy improved both offensive and defensive metrics, highlighting the advantages of possession-based play.本研究对比了意大利顶级足球赛事中「后场发起战术（building from the back）」与直接进攻战术的实战效能，围绕控球率、得分机会与比赛结果展开分析。研究选取2022-2023赛季意大利足球甲级联赛（Serie A）的赛事数据，依据比赛风格对参赛球队进行分类：后场发起战术的判定标准为门将发起的短传占比超过55%，其余球队归为直接进攻战术阵营。统计分析结果显示，采用后场发起战术的球队赛季积分更高（64.2分 vs 40.1分）、进球数更多（57.8球 vs 40.7球）、失球数更少（42.3球 vs 55.9球），且对手的射门次数更少。该战术可同时优化进攻与防守端的各项数据，凸显了控球型打法的竞争优势。
