The New England Damage Experiment was conducted in 2008. Phase II will answer questions raised since the completion of that experiment. The overall goal is to examine shear wave generation from explosions, but during this experiment we will use TNT equivalent amounts of each explosive (Black Powder, ANFO, Comp B) instead of equal weights. We will also examine explosions in rock damaged by the 2008 explosions with "reshoots".
新英格兰损伤实验（New England Damage Experiment）于2008年开展。该实验完成后提出的诸多待解问题，将在第二阶段得到解答。本实验的总体目标为探究爆炸产生的剪切波（shear wave）生成规律，但本次试验中，我们将采用每种炸药（黑火药、ANFO、Comp B）的TNT当量装药，而非等重量装药。此外，我们还将针对受2008年实验爆炸损伤的岩体，开展带有“复炸（reshoots）”的爆炸测试研究。
