Diameter and Transect Measurements of Ten Sugar Maple Trees

The abundance of Sugar Maples (Acer saccharum) was measured in a woodlot at York University on September 21, 2015, at 2:30 P.M., udring partly cloudy weather and 21 degree Celsius air temperature. A transect line thirty meters long was laid down flat across the woodlot, and every adult sugar maple (over 12 feet tall) encountered along the line was recorded, its diameter measured with a ruler, and the distance to--and diameter--of the nearest sugar maple sapling was recorded as well. All measurements were recorded in meters.
