Our study aimed to modulate contents and delivery vector of a message regarding peripheral intravenous catheter (PIC) placement in the emergency room (ER), to test if therapeutic communication could enhance patients' comfort during minor medical procedures. This study was a 2+2 randomized controlled trial. A positive versus standard message was delivered through audio tape (double blind) in the first phase (N= 131) and through the nurse in charge of the catheter placement (single blind) in the second phase (N= 120).本研究旨在针对急诊室（emergency room, ER）外周静脉导管（peripheral intravenous catheter, PIC）置管相关信息的内容与传递载体进行调控，以验证治疗性沟通是否可提升患者在小型医疗操作过程中的舒适度。本研究采用2+2型随机对照试验设计。第一阶段（N=131）通过录音带以双盲方式分别传递正向信息与标准信息；第二阶段（N=120）则由负责置管操作的护士以单盲方式完成信息传递。
