From a plane, this survey tests the amount of thorium contained in rocks and soils below. This allows us to map different types of rocks and soil and find areas that are high or low in thorium. Knowing about the chemical make up of soils and rock is of use to farmers, telling them how the soil is formed. The findings can also be used by people looking for minerals (materials taken from the ground used for things we need from mobile phones to the stones used to build roads and houses). The data can also be used to help map radon gas.

本次航空勘查检测下方岩石与土壤中的钍元素含量。借此可绘制各类岩石与土壤的分布图谱，并定位钍元素含量偏高或偏低的区域。明晰土壤与岩石的化学组成，可帮助农民了解土壤的形成过程。该调查结果还可服务于矿产勘探人员：矿产是指从地下开采的物料，可用于制造移动电话、修筑道路与房屋等各类生产生活所需物资。此外，本数据集还可辅助氡气(radon gas)的分布制图。
