These files are the first prototype concept designs for a multimodal cell that would be suitable for either PEM fuel cells or PEM electrolysers and for use with both X-ray and neutron imaging (either simultaneously or correlatively).The files contained are: A graphite 'inner' component. Two of these must be manufactured (one for the anode and one for the cathode) and their purpose is to provide current collection to/from the cell. If electrolysis is being conducted using neutron imaging, then this component could be manufactured from titanium if needed.A PFA/PTFE 'outer' component, which is designed to be transparent to both X-rays <b>and </b>neutrons, so as not to interfere with the imaging quality, but to provide compression to the cell. This part must be made of a non-hydrogen-containing polymer. Compression screws made of nylon, or anodised aluminium (to make them electrically insulating) can be used to close the cell. A labelled 3D schematic drawing of the cell assembly, indicating the location of compression screws, tubing connections, CCM and current collection.
