The aims of the seismic reflection and refraction surveys in the Weddell Sea
are:
a) to develop a model on the break-up of this part of Gondwana,
b) to map the ocean-continent boundary,
c) to develop an idea about the evolution of the area since the break-up of
Gondwana,
d) to map the sediment distribution and the seismostratigraphy of the region
in order to reconstruct major oceanic current systems.
Shot interval varies between 25 m and 30 m for the seismic reflection and 75 m and 150 m for the seismic refraction data. Since the data have been collected over a long period of time, they are in various stages of processing up to migration.
The following instruments were used: 800 and 3000 m long streamer(24 and 96 channel), 6,24 l airgun arrays, 3 l GI gun, 32 l airgun, 6-channel Reftek stations with 3-component seismometer and geophone arrays.
The geographical coverage is as follows: about 10000 km of seismic reflection and about 1500 km of seismic refraction data have been collected in the Weddel Sea, Antarctica. These data cover the entire region from shelf to deep sea.
Data are available on request, but with special arrangement.
本次南极威德尔海地震反射与折射勘探的目标如下:
a) 建立冈瓦纳大陆(Gondwana)该区域裂解的地质模型;
b) 绘制洋陆边界分布图;
c) 探究冈瓦纳裂解以来该区域的演化历程;
d) 绘制研究区的沉积物分布与地震地层学特征,以重建主要大洋环流系统。
地震反射勘探的炮点间距为25米至30米,地震折射勘探的炮点间距为75米至150米。由于数据采集周期跨度较长,各数据的处理进度不一,处于从预处理到偏移处理的不同阶段。
本次勘探使用的仪器包括:长度为800米与3000米的拖缆(streamer,24道与96道)、6组6.24升气枪阵列(airgun arrays)、3升GI气枪、32升气枪,以及搭载三分量地震检波器(3-component seismometer)与检波器阵列的6通道Reftek采集站。
勘探的地理覆盖范围如下:本次在南极威德尔海共采集到约10000千米的地震反射数据与约1500千米的地震折射数据,覆盖了从大陆架到深海的全部区域。
数据需通过申请获取,且需进行特殊对接安排。
