Centrality concepts of Vienna and Budapest

Licence and disclaimer This dataset, Centrality concepts of Vienna and Budapest, was created by Viktória Éva Lélek in the scope of her doctoral dissertation research at TU Wien. The author is a doctoral researcher at the Institute for Urban and Regional Research, Austrian Academy of Sciences. The dataset contains collected, digitised and georeferenced centrality concepts of Vienna and Budapest, derived from urban planning documents and related source materials. Where necessary, the original materials were digitised, vectorised and georeferenced by the author. Despite careful processing, the map resolution, positional accuracy and level of detail may vary due to differences in the resolution, scale, abstraction and quality of the original sources. The structuring and coding of central areas (A) and centres (C) reflect the author’s interpretation of legends, descriptions and classifications found in the respective urban planning documents. The author is not affiliated with the city authorities or with the creators of the original urban planning documents. The dataset should therefore be understood as an academic interpretation and reconstruction of published planning concepts, rather than as an official dataset issued by the respective cities. Geometry containing sections of the Danube River, city boundaries, district boundaries and quarter boundaries was obtained from OpenStreetMap and added to the dataset as auxiliary spatial reference data for orientation. These geometries are not part of the author’s interpretation of centrality concepts and should be understood as contextual base data. This dataset is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0). Users are free to share and adapt the dataset, provided that appropriate credit is given, a reference to the licence is included, and any changes made to the dataset are indicated.
