Comparative genomics of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains from Brazil reveals polyclonal dissemination and selective exchange of mobile genetic elements associated with resistance genes

Acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic bacterial pathogen infecting immunocompromised patients and has gained attention worldwide due to its increased antimicrobial resistance. Here, we report a comparative whole-genome sequencing and analysis coupled with an assessment of antibiotic resistance of 46 Acinetobacter strains (45 A. baumannii plus one A. nosocomialis) originated from five hospitals from the city of Recife, Brazil, between 2010 and 2014.

鲍曼不动杆菌（Acinetobacter baumannii）是一种机会致病性细菌病原体，可感染免疫功能低下患者，且因其抗微生物耐药性不断增强而受到全球关注。本研究针对46株不动杆菌菌株开展比较全基因组测序与分析，并同步评估其抗菌药物耐药性；该批菌株采集自2010至2014年间巴西累西腓市的五家医院，其中45株为鲍曼不动杆菌，1株为医院不动杆菌（Acinetobacter nosocomialis）。
