China's Overseas Lending - loan-level dataset and country debt stock estimates

Data and replication files for Horn, Reinhart and Trebesch (2021) China's Overseas Lending, forthcoming in the Journal of International Economics.

Our database contains estimates of debt owed to China by more than 100 developing and emerging market governments for each year 2000-2017. The zip file also contains the underlying micro-level “consensus” database covering 4900 loans and grants from Chinese official creditors 1949 to 2017.

The Stata Do file "DebtStockEstimation" uses the micro-level loan data to produce our country-level debt stock estimates. The additional Stata and Excel files allow replicating all figures and main results of Horn, Reinhart and Trebesch (2021).

本数据集配套文件为Horn、Reinhart与Trebesch（2021）待刊于《Journal of International Economics》（国际经济学杂志）的论文《中国海外放贷》(China's Overseas Lending)的相关数据与复现文件。本数据库涵盖2000年至2017年各年度超过100个发展中与新兴市场经济体政府的对华负债估算数值。本压缩包同时包含底层微观层面的「共识数据库（consensus database）」，该库覆盖1949年至2017年中国官方债权人发放的4900笔贷款与赠款。Stata Do文件"DebtStockEstimation"可基于微观贷款数据生成该文的国别层面负债存量估算值。其余配套的Stata与Excel文件可用于复现Horn、Reinhart与Trebesch（2021）一文的全部图表与核心研究结果。
