Bioremediation of PAH-contaminated soil ex situ in aerobic bioreactors has been shown to incompletely reduce levels of contaminants. Surfactant amendment was tested to identify microorganisms potentially involved in the removal of HMW contaminants through the use of barcoded amplicon sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene.
