Torula kanvae was isolated from the gut of a Copris signatus beetle feeding on organic waste in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Through detailed morphological and phylogenetic analyses, based on sequences of the ITS rDNA region, D1/D2 domain of the 28S rRNA gene (LSU), SSU, tef1, and RPB2 genes, we propose Torula kanvae as a novel species within the genus Torula. Phylogenetically, T. kanvae is positioned near T. auatica. On PDA, the colonies displayed a spreading mycelium with a raised, undulate margin, superficial but slightly effuse, nearly circular in shape. From the top, the colonies appeared dark grey in the center with a moss-green margin, while the underside exhibited a dark brown to black center with a whitish margin.

卡瓦暗球孢霉（Torula kanvae）分离自印度马哈拉施特拉邦浦那市一株取食有机废弃物的饰边粪金龟（Copris signatus）的肠道。研究团队基于内转录间隔区（ITS）rDNA区域、28S rRNA基因大亚基（LSU）的D1/D2结构域、小亚基（SSU）、翻译延伸因子1（tef1）以及RNA聚合酶II第二大亚基（RPB2）的基因序列，通过详细的形态学与系统发育分析，将卡瓦暗球孢霉定为暗球孢霉属（Torula）下的一个新物种。系统发育层面显示，卡瓦暗球孢霉与T. auatica亲缘关系相近。在马铃薯葡萄糖琼脂（PDA）培养基上，菌落菌丝体呈蔓延生长状态，具隆起且波状的边缘，表生且略呈散生，整体形态接近圆形。菌落正面中心为深灰色，边缘呈苔绿色；菌落背面中心呈深棕至黑色，边缘为白色。
