Factors Influencing Vocational Nursing Students’ Career Intentions in Geriatric Nursing: A Cross-Sectional Study

This cross-sectional study explores the career intentions of 3,622 vocational nursing students across five provinces in Central-South China regarding geriatric care . Grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior, the research identifies how sociodemographic factors, intergenerational contact, and professional experiences influence career choices . Data were collected from March to June 2024 using the Facts on Aging Quiz 1 (FAQ1) and the Kogan’s Attitudes Toward Older People (KAOP) Scale . The findings aim to support curriculum reforms and workforce strategies for China's aging population .

本横断面研究针对中国中南地区五省的3622名高职护理学生，探讨其老年护理职业意向。本研究以计划行为理论（Theory of Planned Behavior）为框架，分析社会人口学因素、代际接触与专业经历对职业选择的影响机制。研究数据采集于2024年3月至6月，采用老年知识测验1（Facts on Aging Quiz 1，FAQ1）与科根老年人态度量表（Kogan’s Attitudes Toward Older People，KAOP）开展数据收集工作。本研究结果旨在为应对中国人口老龄化的课程改革与劳动力发展策略提供支撑。
