This is the first high-throughput transcriptome experiment into Tectona grandis. Teak is a very important and valuable forest species but the knowledge upon its vegetative and reproductive biology is too restricted, specially about the wood formation genetic characteristics. Here, we sequenced mRNA from secondary xylem (from 12 and 60-yr-old trees), and additionally samples of flowers, leaves and roots (from young plants) and seedlings of teak. Our database can provide the essential genetic information to several studies including the improvement to wood characteristics, tolerance under stresses, flowering control, and plant breeding.
本研究是首次针对柚木(Tectona grandis)开展的高通量转录组实验。柚木是极具重要性与经济价值的林木树种,但当前学界对其营养与生殖生物学的认知仍十分有限,尤其在木材形成的遗传特性方面。本实验对12年生和60年生柚木的次生木质部mRNA进行了测序,同时还采集了幼龄柚木的花、叶、根组织样本以及柚木幼苗样本进行测序。本数据集可为多项研究提供核心遗传信息,涵盖木材性状改良、逆境胁迫耐受性研究、开花调控以及植物育种等领域。
