The Global Carbon Dioxide Monitoring Scientific Experimental Satellite, abbreviated as Carbon Satellite, is the first global atmospheric carbon dioxide observation scientific experimental satellite independently developed by China. This satellite carries two integrated scientific payloads: the hyperspectral carbon dioxide sounder and the auxiliary multi-spectral cloud and aerosol sounder. At 3:22 on December 22, 2016, China successfully launched this satellite using a Long March 2D carrier rocket at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
