The Sentinel-1 Freeze/Thaw (F/T) dataset provides twice-daily (morning and evening) information on soil freeze/thaw status across Finland. It offers two product types: daily products and 6-day composite products. Daily products only display observations from a single day (either morning or evening), while 6-day composite products show the median value of all observations collected over the 6-day period. Following Sentinel-1 data acquisition, the near-real-time (NRT) product has a maximum generation latency of 9 hours, whereas the standard product has a maximum generation latency of 37 hours. The near-real-time product uses Sentinel-1 data categorized under the '3h' timeliness class, and incorporates auxiliary information such as 2-meter air temperature and snow depth. The standard product adopts Sentinel-1 data categorized under the '24h' timeliness class, and includes auxiliary information including 2-meter air temperature, snow depth, and soil freeze/thaw status derived from the SMOS L3FT product. The data is provided in the formats of GeoTIFF files and quick-look PNG files, with the ETRS89 / UTM Zone 35N projection and a spatial resolution of 1 × 1 km. The dataset became available starting from September 1, 2020.
