Longitudinal 3D Models of Decomposing Pig Carcasses in a Humid Temperate Environment

This dataset contains three-dimensional photogrammetric models generated from six decomposing pig carcasses (Sus scrofa domesticus) deposited at a forensic taphonomy research facility in the United Kingdom. Models were reconstructed using a Structure Sension Mark II and iPad Pro 11 4th Gen, and represent successive stages of decomposition under natural outdoor conditions. The dataset was developed as part of research investigating the application of three-dimensional imaging techniques to forensic taphonomy. The models provide a digital record of morphological change throughout decomposition and may be used for quantitative analyses, visualisation, educational purposes, and machine learning applications. A total of 66 photogrammetric models are provided. Models are organised by individual pig identifier and are named according to postmortem interval (PMI) and date of image acquisition. Associated metadata is provided to facilitate reuse and integration with related photographic and thermal imaging datasets.
