Cranial Measurements for the Ergonomic Design of Protective Face Masks

1 Study Design, Setting and Ethics This is a cross-sectional anthropometric measurement study conducted at the Personal Protective Equipment Laboratory, Riga Technical University. The dataset was originally assembled for the doctoral thesis of Eva Lapkovska on anthropometric fit and ergonomics of clothing, and is reused under the original ethical authorisation. Ethical approval: RTU Ethics Committee, Decision No. 7-1/2020 (10 July 2020). All participants provided voluntary informed consent; data were collected, stored, and reported anonymously in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation. 2 Participants N = 559 adults: 297 females and 262 males of European (Latvian) origin. The cleaned dataset with complete paired width and length measurements (N = 559) is used in all analyses. 3 Equipment: Vitus Smart XXL 3D Body Scanner Measurements were extracted from full-body 3D scans acquired using the Vitus Smart XXL whole-body scanner (Human Solutions GmbH, Kaiserslautern, Germany) - a structured-light system with four scanner columns capturing full-body surface at millimetre-level resolution. Scan files were stored on the laboratory server and identified by numbered scan folders. Landmark-based measurements were extracted from the 3D scan point clouds.
