1. To add to knowledge of company training policies and practices, with special reference to engineering;<br>
2. To investigate the factors limiting women's access to vocational training;<br>
3. To examine the extent to which company training policies and practices promote or inhibit equal opportunities in employment for women.<br><B>Main Topics</B>:<BR><br>The data held by the Archive pertain to the interviews with women employees. Main variables studied are occupation, work history (bimodal pattern), education, training, promotion, family circumstances, attitude to women and work, hours worked, position in hierarchy, work aspirations.<br>
The findings from interviews with managers across the five companies studied and from examination of company documents, are reported in publications arising from the study but are not included in the data held by the Archive.
