Numerous lineages of bacteria including the streptomycetes associate with mycorrhizas. Some of these strains are implicated in the stimulation of mycorrhiza formation and termed as mycorrhiza helper bacteria (MHB). The MHB Streptomyces sp. strain AcH 505 stimulates fungal growth by the metabolite auxofuran, promotes mycorrhiza formation by enhancing root colonisation by fungi and stimulates plant root branching, but also elicits a systemic defense response against powdery mildew.

包括链霉菌（Streptomycetes）在内的诸多细菌谱系均与菌根（mycorrhizas）形成共生关联。其中部分菌株被证实可促进菌根形成，因而被命名为菌根辅助细菌（Mycorrhiza Helper Bacteria, MHB）。菌根辅助细菌中的链霉菌属某菌株（Streptomyces sp.）AcH 505可通过代谢产物Auxofuran促进真菌生长，通过增强真菌对植物根系的定殖能力来促进菌根形成，同时可刺激植物根系分枝；此外该菌株还能诱发植物针对白粉病（powdery mildew）的系统防御反应。
